Infrastructure & Data Center Project Manager
About the role
We are seeking a seasoned Infrastructure & Data Center Project Manager to lead complex, large-scale technology initiatives across our client's critical infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities
Own the full lifecycle of infrastructure project plans — from WBS development and resource loading through execution, monitoring, and closeout.
Lead planning and delivery of data center initiatives including hardware upgrades, new builds, migrations, and consolidations.
Orchestrate alignment across cross-functional workstreams — infrastructure, networking, storage, security, and application teams — ensuring dependencies, timelines, and deliverables stay on track.
Manage internal and external vendor relationships, coordinating procurement, cabling, installation, and configuration to meet project milestones.
Maintain rigorous project documentation: detailed schedules, risk/issue/action logs, decision registers, and change management records.
Deliver consistent, executive-quality reporting — weekly status updates, milestone dashboards, and escalation briefs.
Serve as the primary liaison between technical delivery teams, senior leadership, and the client — translating complexity into clarity.
Enforce adherence to data center standards, operational policies, and security protocols across all project activities.
Oversee project budgets, resource plans, and vendor contracts to keep initiatives on time and within cost.
Lead post-implementation reviews and ensure smooth, well-documented transitions to steady-state operations.
Qualifications
12+ years of hands-on experience managing complex infrastructure and data center projects (upgrades, new builds, migrations, consolidations).
Active PMP certification (PgMP or equivalent advanced credential a plus); 10+ years of applied PMI-based project management practice.
Proven track record coordinating large, multi-vendor, multi-workstream programs in high-pressure enterprise environments.
Deep working knowledge of data center environments: compute, storage, networking, cabling, power, and cooling systems.
Strong financial acumen — budget forecasting, vendor contract management, and cost variance tracking.
Expertise in risk identification, issue resolution, and dependency management across complex project ecosystems.
Fluency with modern project management tooling: MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or equivalent platforms.
Exceptional communication skills — equally effective presenting to engineers and to C-suite executives.
Core Competencies
A natural leader who earns trust quickly and keeps diverse teams aligned under pressure.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to track deliverables through to completion and ensure no requirement is overlooked.
A clear, confident communicator who can simplify complex technical realities for any audience.
Proactive and adaptable, performing effectively in dynamic environments where priorities shift frequently.
Collaborative and outcomes-focused, prioritizing successful delivery over process for its own sake.
