About the role
The position is located at the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria, Virginia. The incumbent will serve as a district Litigation Support Specialist, providing technical and analytical assistance involving litigation support in Information Technology (IT) specialty areas.
Responsibilities
- Serving as a district Litigation Support Specialist responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving Litigation Support in Information Technology (IT) specialty areas which support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO).
- Litigation Support administration responsibilities are considered complex in terms of the need to modify standard systems, to resolve hardware and software problems, and to adapt precedents or make significant departures from standardized approaches to meet requirements.
- Providing direct customer support and training in use of legal IT software and hardware systems for staff.
- Performing tasks associated with the organization, preservation, processing, production, delivery, and tracking of investigatory and litigation data in cases involving large volumes of documentary and/or digital evidence.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Your initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing.
- Your continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications

- Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. Qualifying experience providing Information Technology concepts, methods, standards, and practices as they relate to Litigation Support functions. This includes knowledge of database creation and utilization, developing and managing Litigation Support systems, processing Electronically Stored Information (ESI), and pre-trial and trial support, including courtroom presentation services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possess experience loading, processing, managing, and producing electronically stored information (ESI) in eDiscovery platforms.
