Information Technology Specialist

About the role

The Information Technology Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support and maintaining a large, diverse, and complex adult education and vocational training system. They will analyze and refine systems requirements, translate them into applications prototypes, plan and design systems architecture, write, debug, and maintain code, determine and design applications architecture, determine output media/formats, design user interfaces, work with customers to test applications, and assure software and systems quality and functionality. They will also integrate hardware and software components, write and maintain program documentation, evaluate new applications software technologies, ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices to the delivery of application software services, and work with other departments to understand technology requirements and integrate new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware, software, and network systems
  • Maintaining system performance to ensure optimal uptime
  • Troubleshooting IT issues, resolving system outages, and providing support to end-users
  • Implementing IT security protocols, monitoring for vulnerabilities, and ensuring compliance with data privacy standards
  • Planning and executing IT projects such as system upgrades, network installations, and software migrations
  • Working with other departments to understand technology requirements and integrate new technologies
  • Setting up new user accounts, managing permissions, and configuring devices and email systems

Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience or related experience in training development and computer systems and applications
  • Analyze and refine systems requirements
  • Translate systems requirements into applications prototypes
  • Plan and design systems architecture
  • Write, debug, and maintain code
  • Determine and design applications architecture
  • Determine output media/formats
  • Design user interfaces
  • Work with customers to test applications
  • Assure software and systems quality and functionality
  • Integrate hardware and software components
  • Evaluate new applications software technologies
  • Ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices to the delivery of application software services

Employment Status

Full-time (40 hours per week). Salaried. Exempt.

Job Location

This position is at Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT) on board Naval Station Corey Station, Pensacola, FL.

Work Environment and Travel

Qualified candidates should be local to Pensacola, FL, or surrounding areas to be considered for this position. Ability to lift items and/or equipment up to 50 lbs. on limited occasions. Travel up to 10% anticipated.
