Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) - Senior
About the role
The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) plays a critical role in protecting sensitive data and maintaining the overall security posture of an organization. This position is located in Arlington, VA.
Responsibilities
Developing and Implementing Security Policies: ISSOs create and enforce security policies, protocols, and procedures to protect information systems.
Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk analyses to identify potential threats and weaknesses.
Security Incident Response: Respond to security incidents, investigate breaches, and implement corrective actions to minimize damage and prevent future occurrences.
Compliance and Governance: Ensure that the organization's information systems comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Security Awareness Training: Educate and train employees on security best practices.
System Security Management: Manage security aspects of information systems, including configuration management, access control, and data protection.
Collaboration and Communication: Work with various teams, including IT, security, and management, to ensure a coordinated and effective security approach.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor network traffic, system logs, and security tools to detect anomalies and respond to potential threats.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 to 8 years of experience.
Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of security principles, technologies, and best practices. Experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and secure system design principles.
Qualifications
Knowledge of various security controls and their implementation.
Experience with vulnerability assessment and scanning tools.
Ability to create and maintain security documentation.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Skills

Pay
A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $78,400.00 - $173,500.00.
