Information System Security Officer
About the role
The Information System Security Officer will work in a collaborative, dynamic team within a fast-paced, innovative mission environment. They will collaborate with the customer team and external satellite software development contractors.
Responsibilities
- Design, test, and implement secure operating systems, networks, security monitoring, tuning, and management tools for IT security systems and applications.
- Perform vulnerability assessments using automated software and container scanning tools.
- Conduct threat modeling exercises, support incident response, digital forensics, loss prevention, and eDiscovery actions to scan, identify, contain, mitigate, and remediate vulnerabilities and intrusions.
- Cook up security action requests and report status to senior managers.
- Aid in the implementation of required government policies (e.g., NISPOM, DCID 6/3), make recommendations on process tailoring, and perform analyses to validate or recommend additional security requirements and safeguards.
- Support formal ST&E required by government accrediting authorities through pre-test preparations, active test participation, results analysis, and report preparation.
- Review requests for software installation, conduct technical risk assessments on software implementation, and evaluate a wide range of security architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access points.
- Conduct and analyze auditing requirements continuously, periodically reviewing system audits and monitoring corrective actions until all findings are closed.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new security tools, techniques, and technologies to introduce to the enterprise in alignment with the overarching IT security strategy.
- Cook up security action requests, support cyber metrics development/maintenance, and provide status updates and briefings to senior managers and staff.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in IT security and/or information assurance.
- Background in secure software development.
- Experience and enjoyment in working directly with customers to improve cyber security posture.
- Experience authoring and maintaining systems security documentation.
- Experience in generating appropriate security documentation to receive proper accreditation from customer security personnel, and correcting security shortfalls as they are identified through customer sponsored reviews.
- Understanding of cyber environment and threats of our cyber adversaries.
- Possesses strong technical skills and analytic ability.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- IAT Lvl 2 certification (Sec+).
- US Citizenship and active Secret clearance.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include previous experience as an ISSE / ISSM.
Benefits
Salary range: $115,000.00 - $140,000.00, commensurate on experience and technical skillset.
Schedule
This position will be hybrid / remote based out of a Dark Wolf Hub: Herndon VA, Tampa FL, Colorado Springs CO, Ogden UT, or Omaha NE.
