Information Security Systems Engineer

About the Role

This position involves leading and managing an Information Security Systems Engineering team in a hybrid role, combining managerial responsibilities with technical expertise in cybersecurity. The manager will oversee a team of ISSEs, coordinate with internal stakeholders, and ensure compliance with security standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a team of 12+ ISSEs, facilitating career development and team performance.
• Interface with customers and internal managers to scope work and monitor workload fluctuations.
• Perform Control Account Management for EV programs, tracking progress and ensuring quality delivery within budget and schedule.
• Lead cybersecurity efforts by defining, implementing, and verifying security controls per NIST 800-53 standards and RMF processes.
• Collaborate with design and development teams to embed security in system architecture and software development.
• Create security documentation such as SSPs, RARs, and SCTMs to obtain system authorization.
• Utilize vulnerability scanning tools, track vulnerabilities, and manage patches.
• Support travel as needed and ensure team compliance with training, HR, and policy requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree in STEM with 7+ or 9+ years of related security experience.
• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Certifications such as Security+ and CISSP, with knowledge of NIST 800-53.
• Experience with system accreditation, secure software practices, and vulnerability management.
• Preferred familiarity with INCOSE Systems Engineering processes and system requirements analysis.
