Information Security Engineer

About the role

Virtu is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Information Security Engineer to join our global security team. This role involves performing security assessments and analysis, designing, implementing, and coordinating with global IT teams to mitigate discovered risks. You will also evaluate, design, and deploy security solutions including vulnerability management, anti-malware, IDS/IPS, SIEM systems, network flow technologies, and user behavior monitoring. Additionally, you will stay current on emerging threats in financial services, support application security initiatives through static analysis, dependency management, and secure CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, design, and deploy security solutions including vulnerability management, anti-malware, IDS/IPS, SIEM systems, network flow technologies, and user behavior monitoring
• Stay current on emerging threats in financial services; requires self-motivation and passion for information security
• Support application security initiatives through static analysis, dependency management, and secure CI/CD practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in IT, Computer Science or other related discipline
• 4-5 years in Information Security Engineering; background in IT is a plus
• Strong understanding of threat and vulnerability management and mitigation
• Experience with Windows and Unix operating system fundamentals
• Scripting proficiency (PowerShell, Python, Bash) for security automation and tool development
• Experience with Active Directory (or other directory services)
• Experience with security event and incident management
• Good prioritization skills and the ability to effectively switch tasks on varying projects and initiatives
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Experience with Crypto is a plus

Benefits

Salary Range: $125,000 - $175,000 (salary range is exclusive of bonuses, benefits or other categories of compensation)
