Information Security Engineer

Location: Charlotte, NC (3 days onsite) – 12-month contract, likely to extend

Overview

We are seeking an Information Security Engineer with a strong focus on email security and working experience in endpoint security. This is a dual-purpose role; however, email security expertise is the primary priority. This individual will support enterprise security platforms, focusing on protecting against email-based threats such as phishing, malware, and business email compromise, while also contributing to endpoint protection initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and support enterprise email security platforms, including Proofpoint and FireEye
• Investigate and respond to email-based threats, including phishing, malware, and malicious attachments
• Support and maintain endpoint security tools such as CrowdStrike and Defender
• Perform incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and remediation
• Analyze security logs, alerts, and telemetry to detect and mitigate threats
• Collaborate with SOC, threat intelligence, and infrastructure teams to resolve security incidents

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in Information Security Engineering
• 2+ years hands-on experience with email security platforms (Proofpoint, FireEye, or similar)
• 2+ years’ experience with endpoint security tools (CrowdStrike, Defender, etc.)
• Experience investigating phishing and email-based threats

Preferred Qualifications

• Scripting experience (PowerShell or Python preferred)
• Experience with SIEM tools such as Splunk
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Knowledge of email authentication protocols (DMARC, DKIM, SPF)
• Relevant security certifications (CISSP, GIAC, or similar)
