Responsibilities
- Lead the organization’s information security program by setting direction, establishing priorities, and aligning security initiatives with broader business objectives.
- Partner with operational and technical teams to evaluate risk, close security design weaknesses, and support compliance obligations across the enterprise.
- Create, maintain, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures that promote a resilient and well-governed security environment.
- Measure the performance of security controls, prepare reports on program effectiveness, and recommend practical improvements based on findings and emerging threats.
- Oversee coordination across teams to ensure resources are used effectively, security goals remain aligned, and major initiatives progress on schedule.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members and other leaders, supporting career growth and strengthening management capability within the organization.
- Foster an environment of trust, open communication, and accountability so teams can raise concerns, share ideas, and resolve issues constructively.
- Communicate security strategies, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders at multiple levels, including peers, leadership, vendors, and end users.
- Support troubleshooting and incident-related efforts involving firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention tools, and broader security architecture as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- At least 6 years of cybersecurity experience in an enterprise environment, K-12 setting, or higher education organization, including 2 or more years in a lead or leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity governance, cyber risk management, security architecture, and configuration management.
- Hands-on knowledge of firewall and network security technologies, including platforms such as Check Point, Cisco ASA, intrusion detection systems, and intrusion prevention solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions that carry organizational impact.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business partners, and executive leadership while translating complex topics into clear action.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing team members across multiple functions or workgroups.
