Information Receptionist (Office Automation)
About the role
You will join a well-respected team responsible for receptionist, office automation (OA), and clerical support duties in the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Kansas.
Responsibilities
- Receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office;
- Controlling access to the office and ensuring only properly cleared visitors are authorized entry;
- Providing general information regarding office programs;
- Processing all incoming and outgoing mail;
- Receiving all checks and money orders, recording receipt in automated check log;
- Using various software to produce a variety of documents;
- Assisting in docketing for the case tracking and record-keeping system;
- Providing clerical and office automation support.
Qualifications
- To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below:
- Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level.
- Specialized Experience is defined as experience performing administrative or clerical duties in an office environment. Examples of specialized experience include: receiving telephone calls and greeting visitors to the office; responding to inquiries and providing general information; producing a variety of written documents utilizing several types of office automation software; and entering information into an automated database.
- Education: four successfully-completed academic years of education above high school level or possess a bachelor's or higher degree (transcripts required).
- Combination Experience and Education: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)
Pay
Pay will be determined based on duty station.
Schedule
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
