Information Receptionist (Office Automation)
About the role
The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Kansas seeks qualified applicants to fill a position responsible for receptionist, office automation (OA), and clerical support duties.
Responsibilities
- Receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office
- Controlling access to the office and ensuring only properly cleared visitors are authorized entry
- Providing general information regarding office programs
- Processing all incoming and outgoing mail
- Receiving all checks and money orders, recording receipt in automated check log
- Using various software to produce a variety of documents
- Assisting in docketing for the case tracking and record-keeping system
- Providing clerical and office automation support
Requirements
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication, which includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
Qualifications
- To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions: Specialized Experience, Education, or a combination of Education and Experience.
- Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level, performing administrative or clerical duties in an office environment.
- Education: Four successfully-completed academic years of education above high school level or possess a bachelor's or higher degree (transcripts required).
- Combination Experience and Education: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
- You must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
