Informatics Specialist - Community Connect Iowa

Position Summary

The Informatics Specialist is an expert clinician responsible for utilizing an electronic health record in practice, ensuring a safe and quality care environment, and supporting the Community Connect Iowa (CCI) program.

Position Responsibilities

• Collaborates with CCI site-based informatics staff to identify and prioritize EHR/IT needs.
• Guides clinical staff in translating clinical practice into electronic health information systems to improve efficiencies.
• Collaborates with CCI site-based informatics staff and local access/revenue end users on developing, optimizing, and implementing IT tools/technology to support efficiency workflows.
• Translates clinical requirements into system design and workflow customization, data collection, and database builds.
• Develops sample input data, tests system changes, verifies results, and communicates effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
• Serves as a clinical liaison to support communication among technical staff, clinicians, and vendors.
• Maintains documentation on assigned project requirements and design decisions.
• Provides demonstrations and go-live support, managing the transition from current to desired culture, practices, structure, and overall organizational environment.
• Collaborates with CCI leadership to prioritize requests and throughout the project life cycle for new site implementations.
• Collects and analyzes user feedback and recommends revisions and enhancements.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience (within the last 5 years) in a clinical role in a complex health care environment such as a large medical center or teaching hospital.
• 1-3 years of experience (within the last 5 years) contributing to a clinical information system implementation cycle in areas such as design, workflow analysis, build, training, implementation, and support in an ambulatory or hospital setting.

Desired Qualifications

• Master’s level preparation or working towards master’s with clinical specialist or management coursework.
• Experience using Epic in an ambulatory or hospital setting.
• Experience translating customer requirements into system design specifications.
• Ability to assess learning needs and match to the most effective education methods.
• Professional level certification.
• Previous experience providing 24x7 on-call support.
