About the role

The Infection Control Nurse specializes in identifying, controlling, and preventing outbreaks of infection. This position assists in modifying treatment regimens to meet residents' physical and psychosocial needs. You will provide essential infection control orientation for all new staff, coordinate continuing education, and plan facility-wide in-service programs for current employees. Additionally, you will develop and present orientation for newly hired personnel, including specific clinical orientation for new nursing employees, and research, develop, and implement in-service programs to enhance organizational efficiency and quality of services.

Be part of our leadership team with a Monday to Friday schedule and rotating on-call duties.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise infection control policies and procedures.
  • Investigate suspected outbreaks of infection.
  • Provide consultation on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
  • Stay updated on trends and developments in extended care facility patient care techniques; follow federal and state skilled nursing facility regulations.
  • Coordinate and present general facility new hire orientation programs to all new employees.
  • Develop and deliver clinical orientation and training for new nursing team members, including classroom training on specific nursing policies, procedures, and techniques; observe, assist, and assess new team members' performance.
  • Research, design, and implement in-service programs on requested topics to reinforce operational policies/procedures, introduce new techniques, and address identified areas of deficiency.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
  • License to practice as a Nurse (RN) in the State of Michigan; current CPR certification.
  • 3-5 years of previous experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute, extended care, or long-term care facility with at least six months of concurrent experience involving employee education.
  • Strong facilitation and mentoring skills to present training and education in a positive, supportive, and concise manner.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to delivering excellent, passionate, and innovative care.
  • Team player dedicated to supporting team members and getting the job done.
