Join the support team at Thames Valley Council for Community Action in Norwich, CT as a Infant Head Teacher New London. This role pays $20.50 – $24/Hr and requires relevant professional experience.

What You'll Do

  • Interact with children for extended periods
  • Lift and/or carry a child up to 50lbs
  • Sit on the floor or use child-sized furniture
  • Participate in field trips and playground activities
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff
  • Coach and motivate staff to achieve their full potential
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment
  • Create and implement weekly, age-appropriate lesson plans
  • Conduct data entry and maintain classroom files
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that incorporate higher order thinking skills and apply decision-making, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Maintain and update center records, including sign-in/sign-out logs, staff files, and child health records

Requirements

  • Must have access to reliable, insured transportation
  • Provide a TVCCA Staff Statement of Good Health signed by a physician, physician's assistant, or nurse practitioner completed within twelve (12) months before the date of employment, and every twenty-four (24) months for current staff
  • Have the credentials to obtain a Connecticut Head Teacher License from the Department of Public Health
  • Be able to work 40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year
  • Have the computer skills needed to input information into our database system
  • Be able to lift and/or carry a child up to 50lbs
  • Provide a written report of negative tuberculin test completed within twelve (12) months prior to the date of employment, or for a known prior reactor, no evidence of active tuberculosis on a chest x-ray
  • Maintain and update children's Education Files, center staff files, staff professional development files, Parent Involvement Binder, and staff medication log book
  • Be able to work as scheduled; daily attendance and punctuality are required
  • Provide a TVCCA Staff Statement of Good Health signed by a physician, physician's assistant, or nurse practitioner completed within twelve (12) months before the date of employment, and every twenty-four (24) months for current staff
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have the credentials to obtain a Connecticut Head Teacher License from the Department of Public Health
  • Have access to reliable, insured transportation
