About the role

The Indiana Office of Court Services (IOCS) is seeking a Legal Support Attorney to join the Legal Support and Statistics Division. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply legal expertise across a broad range of topics while supporting Indiana’s judges, courts, and judicial committees.

The Office of Judicial Administration, headed by Chief Administrative Officer Aaron Hood, is responsible for the efficient administration of all agencies operating under the direction of the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court. This includes managing 200 personnel, fiscal operations, communication, technology, legal services, intergovernmental relations, trial court services, and support for court boards, commissions, and committees.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to complex legal research requests from judicial officers and court administrators, primarily related to civil law but spanning family, probate, administrative, and criminal law.
  • Monitor and analyze case law and legislation that may impact Indiana’s courts.
  • Collaborate with a team of staff attorneys.
  • Support Judicial Conference and Supreme Court committees, the Civil Benchbook, Commercial Courts, and other committees by coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and assisting with policy development.
  • Contribute to the revision of Benchbooks, draft legal content, and ensure timely updates.
  • Collaborate with IOCS education attorneys to develop and review judicial education materials and presentations.

  • Information Gathering:

    • Learn and adapt to new technologies within the Microsoft Suite and Supreme Court systems.
