About the role
Industrial Technology Teacher responsible for delivering high-school level instruction in woodworking, metalworking, drafting, and related technical subjects.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver daily lessons aligned with New York State Learning Standards for Technology Education.
- Manage and maintain a safe, well-organized shop environment, including tool inventory, material ordering, and equipment upkeep.
- Assess student performance through projects, written assignments, and exams; provide timely feedback and grades.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, department goals, and school-wide initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Supervise students during class, study halls, and extracurricular activities as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid New York State Initial or Professional Teaching Certification in Technology Education (K–12).
- Bachelor’s degree in Technology Education, Industrial Arts, or closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience teaching or working in industrial technology, woodworking, metalworking, or drafting.
- Ability to lift and move equipment/materials up to 50 lbs.
- Clearance through fingerprinting and background check as required by New York State.
