Industrial Sewing Machine Operator

About the Role

Roll Rite, a Safe Fleet company and leader in the truck equipment manufacturing industry, is seeking a Tarp Manufacturing Associate to join the team. This role involves manufacturing complete tarp systems and assembling Automated Tarp Systems, partnering with others to produce Roll-Rite systems according to company processes.

Responsibilities

• Process parts and operate industrial sewing machines, grommet machines, miller roller welders, kabar welders, and floor welders.
• Read tape measures, use hand tools, and operate semi-automatic manufacturing equipment.
• Read and interpret manufacturing prints, work orders, and work instructions.
• Perform routine daily cleaning and equipment maintenance.
• Confirm product quality and prepare products for shipment, including packing and labeling.
• Maintain product workspace and cross-train in other areas and departments as needed.
• Follow all safety guidelines and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one or small group settings.
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and working with fractions.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and solve problems with concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment

• Climate-controlled manufacturing/warehouse facility with exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
• Noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

Physical Demands

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Requires close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Regularly use hands and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, talk, or hear.
