Industrial Services Technician I
About the role
The Industrial Services Technician I supports senior technicians in installing, maintaining, and repairing conveyor belting, rubber components, and related process equipment used in mining, oil & gas, and heavy industrial applications. This role involves learning industry-standard splicing methods, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
Responsibilities
- Aid in preparing conveyor belts for mechanical or vulcanized splicing.
- Measure, cut, grind, buff, and skive belt materials.
- Set up and break down vulcanizing equipment, tools, and work areas.
- Operate basic hand and power tools: grinders, cutters, drills, impact guns, etc.
- Follow belt installation procedures: tracking, tensioning, and alignment.
- Complete basic field paperwork (splice reports, belt logs, QAQC checks).
- Load, unload, and secure tools, equipment, and materials.
- Adhere to MSHA/OSHA safety rules, job hazard analyses, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Assist in troubleshooting belt damage, mistracking, and common conveyor issues.
- Learn preventive maintenance, change roller, pulleys, chutes, bearings, shafts, etc.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Supervisory Functions
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to use hand/power tools safely.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately (to 1/16”).
- Willingness to learn technical procedures and industry standards.
- Ability to follow verbal/written instructions.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work long shifts, nights, or weekends as required.
- Comfortable working at heights, confined spaces, and around heavy equipment.
- Willingness to travel long distances, stay out of town on projects for 2 to 3 weeks at a time as needed.
- Positive team-building attitude, understanding that we are here to work together as a team.
- Ability to work safely in physically demanding, industrial, and remote environments.
- Ability to work in a Native Corporation multi-business environment.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
Minimum Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- No prior experience required; mechanical aptitude preferred.
- Ability to meet requirements for industrial or mining sites required.
- Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company’s Driving Policy.
- Ability to pass drug, driving, and background screenings.
