Industrial Senior Project Architect (Southeast)
About the role
The Southeast Region Architecture Group at HDR is seeking a Senior Project Architect (Industrial Architecture) to lead the planning, design, documentation, and construction administration of multiple building types, including high-performance data centers, water treatment facilities, public utility facilities, operations centers, aerospace, manufacturing, and more.
Responsibilities
- Be knowledgeable in technical design concepts, code applications, design management skills, digital technologies, and design workflows for industrial-type facilities.
- Lead owner/client and internal meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
- Lead project teams with varied levels of experience to successfully complete and deliver construction documents and intermediate milestone deliverables.
- Work with the Project Manager to proactively manage scope and schedule.
- Manage and undertake design activities and the production of detailed documents required for construction.
- Independently coordinate the work of a multidisciplinary team through all phases of a project.
- Review architectural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
- Perform QA/QC and cross-discipline technical reviews.
- Write and edit architectural specifications.
- Cook with affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders.
- Incorporate agreed-upon changes into project documents.
- Provide construction observation and contract administration as needed.
- Conduct work sessions at project site in conjunction with Client Representatives, Project Managers and other disciplines.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Architecture
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant prior experience in the areas of industrial architecture
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience as a licensed professional strongly preferred
- LEED Accreditation with experience and/or interest in sustainable design
- Experience leading teams and mentoring junior staff
- Experience facilitating meetings with a range of stakeholders, such as engineers, client, contractors, subcontractors, AHJs, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference given to candidates currently residing in the Charlotte/Raleigh, NC or Atlanta, GA area
- US Citizenship is required due to client contract requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
- A minimum of 10 years experience
- Registered Architect
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process
- Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
- Experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications
- Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills
