Industrial Repair Estimator

Responsibilities

• Inspect and evaluate damaged or worn industrial equipment to determine repair requirements and identify the most cost-effective solution
• Audit equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, rotating equipment, and other industrial machinery
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, machining, materials, replacement parts, subcontractor services, and project timelines
• Source materials and obtain pricing from vendors and OEMs while verifying availability and lead times
• Analyze project risks, including potential delays, unforeseen repairs, overtime requirements, and material availability
• Develop professional proposals, estimates, and scopes of work for customers and internal teams
• Collaborate with project managers, machinists, production personnel, and sales teams to ensure a smooth transition from estimate to production
• Track estimated versus actual project costs to improve future estimating accuracy
• Maintain organized estimating documentation and project records

Requirements

• 3+ years of estimating experience in an industrial repair, machine shop, heavy equipment repair, or industrial maintenance environment
• Strong understanding of industrial mechanical systems, rotating equipment, pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, welding, fabrication, and machining processes
• Experience estimating repairs for industrial equipment rather than new construction or manufacturing projects
• Ability to accurately interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams
