INDUSTRIAL PAINTER (Fort Wayne, IN)

About the role

This position involves preparing painting equipment, selecting and applying paint, maintaining equipment, and performing quality inspections.

Responsibilities

• Starts flow current and activates conveyor and paint spraying equipment
• Selects color and type of paint as per instructions
• Changes barrels and ensures proper grounding
• Washes, blows off, removes rust and weld berries, and repairs parts
• Spray paints parts using various techniques and adjusts pressure valves
• Maintains and troubleshoots painting equipment
• Operates and troubleshoots paint-mixing system
• Inspects painted parts for imperfections and performs touch-ups
• Cleans and maintains painting booths and equipment
• Performs regular safety checks and notifies team leader of issues
• Assists with other tasks as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• One year of related experience in industrial or autobody environment
• Ability to read, interpret documents, and perform basic math calculations
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently
• Physical ability to perform tasks requiring sitting, standing, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds

• Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions
• Ability to see clearly, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to keep up with the pace of the paint conveyor system.
