Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5-8 years of construction experience with progressively increasing responsibility in industrial, manufacturing, power, process piping, energy, or heavy mechanical construction environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large craft workforces, coordinate multiple subcontractors, and facilitate collaboration among owners, engineers, and project teams
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, innovative and forward thinking
  • Proficient with construction technology platforms including Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software, digital field documentation systems, and project management software
  • Demonstrated experience initiating and driving continuous improvement
  • Current OSHA 30 certification
  • History of working successfully alone or in a team dynamic

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all Pre-Construction related tasks including building crisis management plan, site logistics plan, site specific rules and regulations, and safety plan.
  • Manage and oversee McGough field staff, subcontractors and suppliers engaged in assigned projects. This includes conducting daily huddles, job site coordination and delivery of materials.
  • Lead short-interval planning, look-ahead scheduling, pull-planning sessions, and constraint removal efforts to drive predictable project outcomes.
  • Work with Project Management team as needed throughout project including selecting subcontractors, writing RFIs (requests for information), developing and tracking procurement of materials, tools and equipment.
  • Work with Quality Control team to ensure project-specific inspection & test plan and technical requirements are met.
  • Ensure all on-site documentation including drawings, logs, inspection books are updated and current.
  • Identify and proactively mitigate project risks related to safety, labor productivity, procurement, constructability, logistics, and schedule performance.
  • Work closely with Project Management team to ensure all project closeout tasks are completed. This includes punchlist execution, commissioning, final inspections, owner training, etc.
  • Provide intentional leadership for project team in the areas of Lean methodologies being employed onsite, standard work and Pull-Plan sessions.
  • Drive an incident- and injury-free culture by leading safety planning, job hazard analyses (JHAs), daily pre-task planning, job safety meetings, orientations, and field safety observations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, trade partners, inspectors, and commissioning teams while serving as the primary field representative for mechanical operations.

Mechanical Expertise Responsibilities

  • Supervise mechanical installation activities related to pipe/duct/tank prefabrication, piping field installation, pressure vessels, towers and tanks, heat exchangers, rotating and material handling equipment to ensure that work is done in accordance with Contract requirements, specific Manufacturer’s instructions and Project procedures.
  • Develops and/or reviews scopes of work and scheduling documents for projects in accordance with requirements and specifications.
  • Lead constructability reviews during preconstruction and early project phases to identify opportunities for prefabrication, modularization, schedule optimization, and risk reduction.
  • Oversee on site execution of large scale mechanical works or shutdowns.
  • Tracks and monitors projects using available tools and resources to include creating and maintaining baseline schedules, manhour forecasts, completion trackers and performing critical path analyses to identify stop gaps and project challenges.
  • Maintain labor productivity metrics and implement corrective actions to improve field performance, manpower utilization, and cost efficiency.
  • Serves as subject matter expert (SME) for mechanical systems including process piping, utility piping, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, material handling systems, and associated commissioning requirements.
  • Quantity verification and tracking or reporting.
  • Perform quality and completion inspections of work completed.
  • Aid in change order reviews and scope validation.
  • Coordinate procurement, delivery, storage, preservation, installation, and startup planning for critical mechanical equipment and long-lead materials.
  • Support mechanical completion, system turnover, commissioning support, startup activities, and owner training to ensure successful project delivery.

Office and Travel

  • Must be willing to travel regularly and accept out of town assignments ranging from weeks to months or years at a time.
  • Projects may be located throughout the United States, requiring extended travel and temporary relocation based on project assignment.

Physical Requirements

  • Position requires performance of duties outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Exposure to dirt, dust, and other materials is routine and may require the use of protective clothing and respirators.
  • Jobs require an employee to frequently work on high structures such as ladders and scaffolds.
  • The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand; talk or hear; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and frequently climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
