Join the Effingham team at The Krusteaz Company on our 2nd shift as a Maintenance Technician. The ideal candidate will have a broad skill set to identify and resolve mechanical downtime causes and improve production processes, with strong electrical, mechanical, and PLC aptitudes.
Responsibilities
- Support production by restoring equipment to base condition through industrial maintenance functions, including interpreting blueprints, fabricating metal, plumbing, pneumatic and millwright activities, and understanding motors and drives.
- Collaborate with production staff to enhance equipment reliability and complete repair tasks with minimal reactive downtime.
- Perform problem-solving and troubleshooting, operate computerized systems and maintenance software, attend meetings, and complete paperwork.
- Use a PC for communication, parts research, and maintenance system tasks, including purchasing parts as needed.
- Demonstrate strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills while following maintenance procedures for PMs, schedules, and documentation.
- Communicate effectively across all organizational levels and represent the company professionally to external contacts.
- Climb ladders, lift/push/pull up to 60 pounds using proper techniques, and work in confined or elevated spaces (up to 45 feet) safely.
- Focus on solution-oriented approaches to address issues for both internal and external customers.
- Pass mechanical and electrical aptitude and knowledge tests.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Food manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Exposure to PLC, SLC 500/PLC5/RS Logics/Device Net preferred.
- Experience with AC and DC motors, VFD, and VSD drives preferred.
- Relevant trade or technical school training preferred.
- Ability to communicate in English with team members and supervisors via radio, email, and in-person interactions.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands/fingers to operate computers and telephones.
- Close vision requirements for computer work.
- Ability to work in moderate noise, confined spaces, and sit at a computer for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 60 pounds regularly.
- Stand and walk for extended periods, often for the entire shift duration.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching to clean equipment and facility areas.
- Good manual dexterity for handling and operating equipment.
- Climb stairs and ladders to reach high areas and equipment.
- Push and pull heavy cleaning equipment and carts.

Pay
$31.44 per hour + $1.25 shift differential. Up to 7% quarterly bonus incentive pay based on business performance.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM, with possible overtime.
