Industrial Maintenance Supervisor - Water/Wastewater Operations

About the role

The Industrial Maintenance Supervisor oversees maintenance activities, installation, and repairs in various skills areas such as plumbing, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic. They are responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and permit-compliant operation of the system.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train staff to ensure the implementation of management directives and the availability of qualified staff.
  • Develop, administer, and manage departmental budget.
  • Interact with clients to maintain or operate the system efficiently, safely, and permit-compliantly.
  • Support client capital projects.
  • Manage key performance indicators and project management.
  • Direct assigned staff and contractors in performing approved maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a safe, neat, and clean work environment.
  • Instruct staff in the best methods, materials, tools, and equipment required.
  • Provide feedback, coaching, opportunity, and decision-making authority to employees.
  • Effectively discipline employees as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED with a degree in a related field or equivalent related experience.
  • Three to seven years of experience in various positions within a chemical processing or water/wastewater treatment environment.
  • Lead experience or supervisory training.
  • Understanding of process engineering, water quality assurance, maintenance strategy, and laboratory procedures.
  • Effective skills in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and team-building.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and cost control.
  • Excellent verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems for preparing work orders and purchase requisitions.
  • Ability to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required by site.
  • Demonstrated commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Physical requirements include bending, standing, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, walking, climbing and balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, and smelling.
