About the Role
Responsible for all areas of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance of production equipment, as well as supervision of maintenance employees.
Responsibilities
- Assures all equipment is maintained in a condition capable of producing to set production and QA standards.
- Conducts weekly maintenance meetings.
- Works with production machine manufacturers or material vendor representatives in the plant.
- Oversees the daily activities of the Machine Shop and Parts Room.
- Trains maintenance personnel on all plant equipment.
- Monitors and enforces R.C. Bigelow Safety & Health policies and procedures.
- Interfaces between Maintenance Manager and all mechanics.
- Monitors production floor data collection systems.
- Performs periodic reviews of Lockout / Tagout Plan and updates as needed.
- Performs training of maintenance personnel.
- Member of the Plant Leadership Team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises all employees in the Maintenance Department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of vendors or employees of organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
- The employee is required to have vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and frequently must work where there are fumes or airborne particles.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock; vibration; wet and/or humid conditions; high precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions.
