About the role
Carrier in Residential furnace factory in Indianapolis seeks a high energy, data driven, result-oriented Industrial Maintenance Supervisor to lead the daily maintenance operations to ensure maximum equipment uptime, safety, and efficiency in a manufacturing environment. This role oversees skilled trades supporting stamping presses, automated conveyors, robotic systems, and PLC-controlled machinery, driving preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate maintenance technicians across mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines
- Ensure uptime and reliability of stamping presses, conveyors, robotic cells, and PLC-driven equipment (e.g., screw machines)
- Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures, including PLC, servo, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of production equipment and automation systems
- Enforce safety standards, LOTO compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Manage maintenance schedules, work orders, and spare parts inventory (i.e., CMMS)
- Collaborate with production to minimize downtime and improve throughput
- Develop and mentor team members; ensure technical skill progression
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (root cause analysis, TPM, Lean, reliability improvements)
Basic Qualifications
- Aceessory degree in engineering or industrial maintenance
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience
- 2+ years in a supervisory role
- Able and willing to work longer hours if required
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in a union environment
- Experience with stamping presses, conveyors, robotics (Fanuc/ABB/KUKA), and PLCs (Allen-Bradley/Siemens)
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and automation controls
- Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance KPIs
- PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Robotics diagnostics and basic programming
- Experience in high-volume or automotive manufacturing
- Ledan Manufacturing / Six Sigma exposure
- Leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
