Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Silgan Containers is America's largest metal food packaging producer and a leader in sustainable manufacturing and packaging innovation. Our Rochelle, IL manufacturing facility supports sustainability initiatives such as increased recycled material usage, energy efficiency improvements, renewable energy initiatives, modern manufacturing process upgrades, and decarbonization efforts in partnership with the Department of Energy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support high-speed manufacturing equipment used in metal food packaging production.
• Service, operate, maintain, and overhaul manufacturing equipment including: sheet feeders, presses, compound liners, elevators, conveyors, compound systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair industrial manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain production of quality products according to company standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs.
• Conduct scheduled inspections and quality checks.
• Enter production and inspection data into Windows-based computer systems.
• Identify and respond to non-standard operating conditions.
• Minimize downtime and support continuous improvement and manufacturing safety initiatives.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to pass: Battery X Mechanic Test, Precision Measuring Test.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Positive “can do, will do” attitude.
• Ability to perform and document quality checks and measurements.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, production equipment repair, preventive maintenance, conveyor systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and high-speed manufacturing equipment.

Pay

Starting Pay: $31.16 per Hour plus Shift Differential and Overtime
Top Pay: $33.43/hour
$2,000 Hiring Bonus

Schedule

12-hour night shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Rotating schedule: 4 days on, 4 days off
