Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections and tasks to ensure that machines continue to operate smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and that the physical condition of facilities does not deteriorate.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Determine how to correct mechanical problems, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs, as necessary.
  • Install, replace, and change machine parts and attachments, according to diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams.
  • Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
  • Set up and operate machines and adjust controls to regulate operations.
  • Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
  • Align and balance new equipment after installation.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
  • Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
  • Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
  • Collaborate with co-workers and/or contractors to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
  • Collect and discard in proper receptacles per site requirements, worn machine parts, and other refuse to maintain machinery and work areas properly and safely.
  • Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
  • Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.

Requirements

  • Ability to meet company policies in safety, employee behavior, attendance, and drug, alcohol, criminal, and motor vehicle record checks.
  • Must have and maintain a valid US state driver's license.
  • Minimum education requirement of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Excel for the purpose of data-entry.
