About the role

The Johns Manville Ruston, LA Facility Maintenance Mechanic position is a skilled labor role responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment. The position requires adherence to safety protocols and collaboration across various organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments aligned with company standards.
  • Wears personal protective equipment as required, including protective gear, and completes safety training.
  • Performs safety observations and training assignments.
  • Manages downtime by coordinating with production departments for preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Assists other maintenance personnel and troubleshoots equipment issues using testing equipment and measuring techniques.
  • Repairs and replaces parts like Indurator O-Rings, mold car bearings, and oven door cables.
  • Maintains and tests critical systems such as boilers, CO2 houses, air compressors, and process systems.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems, pipe supports, and hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Operates in accordance with ISO certifications held by the Ruston facility.
  • Executes MRO work orders in SAP.
  • Communicates effectively with internal customers regarding mechanical issues.
  • Responds to call-ins and works call-in requests.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school (preferred).
  • One to three years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Qualifications

  • Must have own tools.
  • Must have relevant certifications such as Mechanic license, welding certificate, lathe certificate, forklift, diesel mechanic certificates, and machinist certificate.

Pay

The base hourly rate for this position is $27.20. Pay is based on experience and can range from $27.20 to $30.72 per hour.
