Industrial Maintenance Mechanic - 1st Shift (A Shift) - Waterloo KPR, IA

Job Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs all equipment and company assets.
• Maintains a safe work environment and adheres to Tyson policies and procedures.
• Keeps machinery running to maintain continuous production.
• Repairs and maintains the operating conditions of the machinery and equipment.
• Breaks down and sets up production line machinery.
• Completes daily documentation as required.
• Ensures safety, including personal safety and food safety.
• Complies with all company and USDA policies/guidelines and reports violations.
• Attends required training (e.g., Safety, HACCP, HR topics, LOTO, PIT).
• Uses basic computer skills to navigate systems, perform data entry, and complete training.
• Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• At least one year of mechanic work experience with one or a combination of employers or be a graduate of an industrial maintenance training program.
• At least six months of continuous employment with one employer in the past two years.
• Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 180 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.

Physical Requirements

• Willing and able to lift, carry, push, and pull 70+ lbs.
• Stand, walk, and perform job up to 10-12 hours/day, with appropriate breaks.
• Bend, stoop, twist, stretch, climb, push, pull, and reach above, below, and across at shoulder level.
• Work in an environment where extreme temperatures range seasonally from hot/warm to cold, where conditions may be damp and/or wet, and concrete floors may be slippery in some areas.
• Flex/grip with wrists/hands and use maintenance tools.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net / beard guard, steel-toed boots, and gloves.

Team members must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and some holidays, as needed.

The starting base rate of pay is $26.05/hour. Starting pay can be higher based on experience. This position is also eligible for overtime pay.
