Industrial Machinist - 2nd Shift (+$5/hour shift differential)
About the role
This role combines both CNC and manual machining responsibilities. Depending on production needs, you'll set up and operate CNC equipment, run manual mills, lathes, drill presses, and boring mills, and support the production of custom, low-volume components.
Responsibilities
- CNC & Manual Machining:
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and machining equipment
- Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, drill presses, and boring mills
- Perform machine adjustments, offsets, and tooling changes as required
- Select machining methods and sequences based on part requirements
- Produce precision components that meet blueprint specifications and quality standards
- Monitor machining operations and verify dimensional accuracy throughout production
- Blueprint Reading & Precision Measurement:
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine machining requirements
- Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Tooling, Materials & Maintenance:
- Select appropriate tooling and understand material behavior (primarily steel)
- Perform basic tool maintenance and support jig/fixture setup
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Vocational training or Machinist certification preferred
- 3+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Experience operating both CNC and manual machining equipment strongly preferred
- Experience with machine setup, offsets, and troubleshooting strongly preferred
- Experience with large-part machining, horizontal boring mills, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments is a plus
