Brief Description
As an Industrial Gearbox Repair Technician, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, disassembling, repairing and reassembling a wide range of industrial gearboxes and mechanical drive systems. Your work ensures that essential industrial equipment runs smoothly and reliably.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble industrial gearboxes to evaluate internal components and diagnose wear, damage, or failure.
- Clean, inspect, and measure gears, shafts, bearings, and housings using precision tools.
- Rebuild and reassemble gearboxes to OEM specs or customer requirements using high-quality parts
- Diagnose root cause failures and document findings clearly for internal and customer reference
- Operate presses, pullers, grinders, and lathes as needed for component fit and preparation.
- Perform test runs (no-load or load test) to ensure units functions properly before shipping.
- Collaborate with engineering and assembly teams to solve challenging mechanical issues.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized and efficient work area.
Requirements
- Able to provide basic hand tools needed for the position.
- Able to wear PPE require for position, as needed.
- Able to perform fine detail work with hands.
- Able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Able to work for any employer in the United States.
- Able to work overtime as needed and in the field at client sites.
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekdays, and weekends to meet customer service requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with gearbox repair, mechanical maintenance or industrial equipment.
- Mechanically skilled, strong understand of gear types (helical, worm, planetary), tolerances, and fits.
- Detail oriented, using measurements, documenting and double-checking
- Team oriented, able to work independently while also being able to collaborate with others.
- Comfortable using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and alignment tools.
- Experience with rigging and lifting heavy loads, and operating overhead cranes.
- Forklift experience.
Physical Demands
- Occasional lifting of heavy objects, up to 50 pounds.
- Extended periods of standing and/or bending.
- Computer literate.
