Duties

  • Performs maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of mechanical equipment.
  • Assists in the repair of the mechanical/hydraulic portion of the overall storage modernization system.
  • Diagnoses, disassembles, repairs, and reassembles mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and subsystems.
  • Performs general and scheduled preventive maintenance of equipment, such as stock retrieval systems, and overhead and conveyor systems.
  • Loads, tests, and inspects lifting devices in accordance with regulations and manuals.
  • Removes, capacity checks, charges, and fills and drains lead acid type batteries used in material handling equipment (MHE).

Requirements

  • Conditions of employment: Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Tour of duty: Set Schedule.
  • Security Requirements: Non-Sensitive.
  • Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, where reciprocity cannot be applied; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Non-Exempt.
  • Selective Service Requirement: Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.

  • This position and any future selections from this announcement may be used to fill various shifts located within DLA Distribution Susquehanna in New Cumberland, PA.
  • Pre-employment Physical: Required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license/certification to operate government vehicles.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.

Qualifications

  • The Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations is used to rate applicants.
