Leggett & Platt’s Precision Hydraulic Cylinders division is committed to providing comprehensive design, service, and support to OEMs during all phases of development, testing, and production to ensure smooth integration and superior product performance. As a trusted partner in the hydraulic cylinders industry, we tailor solutions to meet the evolving needs of our global clients.

The Industrial Engineer will analyze existing manufacturing processes to implement improvements, recommend best practices, perform time studies, process balancing, and develop process flow. This role also involves developing contingency plans for high-risk manufacturing assets and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate current manufacturing practices and identify those needing improvement.
  • Confer with vendors, staff, and management regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with SMED events, workflow time studies, and process balancing.
  • Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency.
  • Communicate with management and develop standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Develop process flow for each product.
  • Regulate and alter workflow schedules according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times to expedite production operations.
  • Learn and develop NoMuda Visual Factory software expertise and implement it throughout the plant.
  • Provide training to operators for using Visual Factory software on the shop floor.
  • Generate high-level reports for Visual Factory and create and/or update technical documentation.
  • Perform capacity analysis and contingency planning.
  • Evaluate operators’ tasks and steps based on process flows, and identify procedures or tools to improve productivity.
  • Perform Continuous Improvement activities and other duties to support the needs of the business.

Requirements

  • BS in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or similar roles.
  • Excellent mathematical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to work independently and closely follow directions.
  • Ability to learn and use Visual Factory software and Visual Infor (ERP System).
