About the role
GreenWood, Inc. is hiring for an Industrial Electrical Journeyman position at their Mitsubishi site in Greer, SC. This is a Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt position with a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 7:00am-5:30pm, 40 hours per week, and occasional overtime as needed. The position is available without the need to travel.
Responsibilities
- Plans, layout, installs, and repairs wiring, conduit, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment
- Follows sketches showing location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring
- Makes measurements, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using tools like a hacksaw, pipe threader, rules, and conduit benders
- Pulls wiring through conduit
- Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads with knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together and applying tape or terminal caps
- Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools
- Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, and fastens in place with crews or bolts using hand or power tools
- Connects power cables to equipment and installs grounding leads
- Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope
- Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement
- Disassembles and repairs defective electrical equipment or systems
- Loads, transports, and unloads material, tools, equipment, and supplies
- Maintains tools and equipment
- Wears personal protective equipment and uses safety equipment as required
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules
- Rates information using personal judgment or standards that can be measured or checked
- Participates in daily toolbox talks
- Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least Four years (4) combined training and experience in industrial electrical work
- Able to distinguish colors (electrical)
- Able to make and understand mathematical calculations
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency
- Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive tasks with focus on quantity and quality
- Relevant experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
- Experience with safety-sensitive positions
