Job Information
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) Union and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Example of Duties
- Under supervision, the Indoor Recreation Specialist II at Fairview Recreation Center, leads entry-level facility staff.
- Delivers recreation activities and events, monitors participant behavior and maintain a clean facility.
- This position is distinguished from that of Recreation Specialist I by the degree of accountability in the work and greater latitude in the exercise of independent judgment concerning assigned duties
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and one (1) year experience in the program or activity under consideration.
- Prior experience in the use of recreational equipment is required.
Additional Important Information
- Preference will be given to returning Seasonal Employees who are eligible for Recall, and to any Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees.
- AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.
