Individual Assistance Emergency Services Coordinator

About the role

The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) seeks enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team. We serve as a leader in emergency management and homeland security through dedicated service to all.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates program related efforts
  • Organizes and monitors resources to support activity associated with implementing program objectives
  • Provides a wide range of other analytical and technical tasks
  • Prepares detailed plans and specifications
  • Conducts technical research
  • Makes detailed analysis
  • Analyzes situations to make appropriate recommendations
  • Acts with independence while maintaining a routine workload and responding to short-term tasks
  • Meets regulatory and internal deadlines on all assignments
  • Performs duties during both normal and disaster recovery operations
  • May be required to travel on short notice

Requirements

  • A high level of knowledge and experience in disaster program laws, regulations, policies, and damage assessments
  • The ability to analyze situations accurately, reason logically, implement policy and regulations, and effectively communicate with Cal OES staff and management, public agency representatives, and federal staff
  • Functions in a demanding and changing environment, acting with independence while maintaining a routine workload and responding to short-term tasks
  • Meets regulatory and internal deadlines on all assignments

Qualifications

  • Recognizes behaviors and symptoms resulting from trauma and applies trauma-informed practices
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Observes and protects the confidentiality of sensitive materials and information
  • Utilizes computer tools such as Smartsheet, Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Adapts to changing priorities and assumes complex duties
  • Communicates clearly through exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Possesses strong organizational and time management skills
  • Prioritizes workload and performs well under pressure during rapidly changing situations
  • Able to work in remote locations or makeshift environments
  • Demonstrates sound decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Exhibits leadership abilities as needed and represents the program professionally at meetings or briefings
  • Follows established directions, protocols, and procedures
