About the Role

The Income Tax Analyst supports the Company's federal, state, and local income tax compliance processes for a complex pass-through structure consisting primarily of an S Corporation, Partnerships, and Single member LLCs. This role works closely with the Income Tax Manager, internal business partners, and external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax filings and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain federal, state, and local income tax compliance work papers.
  • Gather and organize financial and operational data required for income tax estimated payments and return preparation.
  • Cook up information requests with Accounting, Finance, Payroll, Treasury, Legal, Human Resources, and other business departments.
  • Aid in the preparation of tax information provided to external tax advisors.
  • Review tax return drafts for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Reconcile tax return information to financial records and supporting schedules.
  • Aid in the preparation and review of Schedule K-1 information.
  • Maintain compliance calendars and monitor filing deadlines.
  • Prepare business licenses and gross receipt filings.
  • Assist with the preparation and calculation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions.
  • Support the calculation and tracking of state tax apportionment data.
  • Prepare account reconciliations related to income taxes.
  • Aid in deferred tax analyses as assigned.
  • Support tax account maintenance and documentation.
  • Assist with tax research related to federal and state tax issues.
  • Analyze tax data and identify discrepancies requiring further investigation.
  • Prepare schedules and summaries to support tax planning initiatives and special projects.
  • Support implementation of tax process improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Assist with gathering documentation for federal and state tax audits.
  • Support responses to tax notices and information requests from taxing authorities.
  • Maintain audit and notice tracking logs.
  • Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives within the Tax Department.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to compliance processes and internal controls.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or related field required.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of accounting, tax, or related experience.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements; basic knowledge of federal and state income tax concepts; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis; experience with tax compliance software and ERP systems is a plus; ability to work with large datasets and multiple information sources.
