About the role

This position requires thorough knowledge of the assigned income maintenance program, as well as the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and perform casework within structured time frames. The role involves instructing and evaluating lower-level employees, training staff on regulations and procedures, and understanding client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Apply thorough knowledge of the assigned income maintenance program (LTC/CAP/SA).
  • Understand and interpret regulations, policies, and procedures of varying complexity.
  • Work independently and prioritize tasks to meet structured deadlines.
  • Instruct, evaluate, and train lower-level employees on rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Assess and address the needs and problems of clients/applicants.
  • Perform caseworker functions efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain awareness of agency and community programs/services that may affect clients.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Note: Applications for Income Maintenance Caseworker II (Salary Grade 63) working toward this role will also be accepted, requiring one year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or equivalent.
  • Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex regulations and policies.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
  • DD 214 required for applicants claiming military preference.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).
  • NC FAST Certificate.
  • Bilingual proficiency.

Pay

$45,333–$71,653 per year.
