About the role
The Incident Investigator is responsible for conducting detailed field investigations of incidents involving City vehicles, equipment, and employees.
Responsibilities
- Respond to and investigate motor vehicle and equipment incidents, documenting damages, taking photographs, and interviewing drivers and witnesses.
- Prepare comprehensive incident reports and create scene diagrams.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, obtain surveillance videos, and examine vehicles and parts.
- Work with legal and liability divisions, serve as a court witness if needed, and provide incident-related training.
- Assist emergency personnel and city staff, ensuring safety protocols and compliance measures are followed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in law enforcement, investigation, or criminal justice.
- Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Investigation, or related field.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
Skills
- Knowledge of traffic laws, accident investigation principles, and city procedures.
- Ability to operate vehicles, work in adverse weather, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in report writing, diagramming accident scenes, and data entry.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to remain calm under stress, and establish effective working relationships.
- Familiarity with MS Office applications and two-way radios.
- Ability to work independently, conduct interviews, and present findings.
