About the role
In Albemarle County Public Schools, we strive to provide engaging, challenging, and relevant learning experiences for all students. As part of this mission, we seek individuals who can assist in managing in-school suspensions effectively.
Responsibilities
- Supervise students during in-school suspension to collect assignments, review assignments, answer questions, and provide encouragement
- Supervise ISS students during break and lunch periods
- Complete ISS student assignment sheets and distribute some
- Collect, arrange, and make ISS assignments according to each student
- Record attendance and make appropriate reports
- Review and enforce ISS rules
- Enter student data on a computer database
- Perform clerical duties to support submitting quarterly reports
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- General knowledge of student instruction and management practices, procedures, and techniques
- General knowledge of school system rules and procedures for classrooms, halls, cafeterias, libraries, and transportation
- General knowledge of subject areas in class levels to which assigned
- Ability to guide, direct, teach, and control students
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, principals, and other school personnel
- Ability to type basic records
- Ability to operate audio-visual equipment
Qualifications
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school including clerical training
Skills
- Knowledge of student instruction and management practices
- Knowledge of school system rules and procedures
- Knowledge of subject areas in class levels
- Ability to guide, direct, teach, and control students
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
