OSI Electronics is seeking an In-Process Inspector to join their team. This individual will perform inspection and verification activities throughout the electronics manufacturing process to ensure printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), subassemblies, and finished products meet customer requirements, production documentation, workmanship standards, and internal quality procedures. They will also support product quality, traceability, and process compliance by inspecting assemblies after key manufacturing operations such as SMT placement, soldering, wire bonding, conformal coating, mechanical assembly, and electrical or functional testing. Responsibilities Perform in-process inspection and final inspections for PCBAs after soldering, bonding or conformal coating, mechanical operation, or testing per production traveler or router and customer BOM and drawings. Evaluate soldering workmanship on surface mount and through-hole assemblies using IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 acceptance criteria, including inspection of solder joints, component placement, polarity, orientation, cleanliness, bridging, insufficient solder, lifted leads, damaged components, and other workmanship defects. Review and verify AOI verification and X-ray inspection of assemblies by reviewing automated inspection results, confirming defects, identifying false calls, documenting findings, and verifying hidden solder joints or internal conditions such as BGA solder quality, voiding, opens, shorts, misalignment, and other nonconformances. Conduct First Article Inspection or First Piece Inspection in accordance with the production traveler, customer drawing, BOM, approved sample, inspection checklist, and applicable acceptance criteria before authorizing continuation of production. Verify production documentation sign off for completeness, accountability and traceability. Perform SMT setup verifications prior to and during production runs, including confirmation of feeder setup, component part numbers, reference designators, polarity, orientation, program revision, stencil identification, solder paste requirements, and traveler or router requirements. Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree. Minimum 3 years’ experience in PCBA production environment required. Soldering workmanship inspection experience required. IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 certification or training required. Prior PCBA assembly or soldering operator experience desired. Prior experience of operating AOI and X-RAY inspection equipment, a plus. Ability to perform inspection under microscope while handling small parts required. Must be able to distinguish and identify colors as well as judge distances and spatial relationships with or without corrective lenses. Ability to read and interpret production travelers, routers, bills of material, assembly drawings, customer specifications, inspection criteria, and work instructions required. Must be able to use typical inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, rulers, and etc. Basic knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, or ISO 13485 desired. Must be able to read, write, and verbally effectively communicate in the business language (English). Basic computer skills and ability to enter inspection results and review electronic documentation required. Manufacturing and inventory software knowledge, a plus. Must have strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and ability to make consistent accept/reject decisions based on defined criteria. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations. Base salary is one component of your total rewards package.
