In-Custody Case Manager I/II

About the role

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Correctional Division operates two jails in Redwood City: Maguire Correctional Facility (MCF) and Maple Street Correctional Center (MSCC). MSCC is specifically designed for programming and case management, featuring classrooms and over 20 programs for male and female incarcerated individuals. The role involves one-on-one case management with incarcerated persons (IPs), planning, implementing, and coordinating jail programs in cognitive behavioral, education/literacy, vocational, and activity-based areas. You may facilitate program groups using approved curricula for the justice-involved population, providing opportunities for successful reentry into the community.

You will develop programmatic procedures, coordinate with Community Based Organizations, Adult Probation, Correctional Health, Human Services Agency, and Behavioral Health Recovery Services, and create reentry plans linking individuals to post-release services and support.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of incarcerated individuals.
• Interview and conduct regular face-to-face follow-ups with the incarcerated population.
• Conduct program/service needs assessments and complete initial/re-assessments.
• Initiate case plans, including curriculum schedules.
• Facilitate group programming for incarcerated individuals.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings to identify post-release opportunities.
• Assess incarcerated individuals for post-release program/service needs, financial obligations, and entitlement eligibility.
• Collect and analyze data to develop community profiles on specific programs.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, informational publications, program documentation, policies, and procedures.
• Link incarcerated individuals to community-based services, vocational, and educational opportunities.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Typical qualifications include:

• In-Custody Case Manager I ($38.52 - $48.16/hr): Two years of experience in an organization providing social services, including responsibility for community service program development such as planning, evaluating, monitoring, or coordinating projects.
• In-Custody Case Manager II ($43.16 - $53.95/hr): Four years of experience in an organization providing social services, including responsibility for community service program development such as planning, evaluating, monitoring, or coordinating projects.

Pay

• In-Custody Case Manager I: $38.52 - $48.16 per hour.
• In-Custody Case Manager II: $43.16 - $53.95 per hour.

Location

Positions are located in Redwood City but may require travel throughout the County to perform job duties. Full-time vacancies are available in the Corrections Division.
