Import Manager – Customs Brokerage Operations

About the role

We’re partnering with a growing logistics and customs brokerage organization in Northern New Jersey that is hiring an experienced Import Manager to help lead daily U.S. Customs Brokerage operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily Customs Brokerage operations to ensure entries are processed accurately, on time, and in compliance.
• Support, guide, and mentor Entry Writers and import operations staff.
• Review import documentation for accuracy before submission to U.S. Customs.
• Help resolve Customs rejections, RFIs, holds, documentation issues, and compliance matters.
• Prepare and file Customs entries when needed based on workload.
• Maintain and improve standard operating procedures, workflows, and brokerage processes.
• Monitor regulatory updates involving U.S. Customs, Partner Government Agencies, and import compliance requirements.
• Cook up team workflow, assign priorities, and help balance daily productivity.
• Support strong client service by ensuring accuracy, responsiveness, and compliance across the import process.

Requirements

• Active U.S. Customs Broker License highly preferred
• 5+ years of experience in Customs Brokerage operations preferred
• Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import entries, trade compliance, and documentation requirements
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting Entry Writers is strongly preferred
• Hands-on experience reviewing or filing customs entries
• Able to solve problems quickly in a fast-paced import environment
• Strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills
• Experience improving processes, workflows, or SOPs is a plus
