About the role
The Import CHB Coordinator is an individual contributor role focused on accurate and timely customs entry processing while supporting the brokerage team. This position manages assigned accounts, communicates with clients and regulatory agencies, and ensures customs entries are processed efficiently and in compliance with applicable regulations. The role provides an opportunity to develop toward independent account management while maintaining service quality, productivity, and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for assigned accounts, providing updates and customer support.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients.
- Respond to routine client inquiries and escalate complex issues appropriately.
- Process customs entries accurately and within required timelines.
- Review and validate shipment documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and internal procedures.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and support efficient workflow management.
- Investigate and resolve entry processing issues and documentation discrepancies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and regulatory agencies to resolve issues.
- Identify potential risks and take appropriate corrective action.
- Escalate non-routine or complex issues to leadership.
- Communicate effectively with clients, customs authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Partner with Compliance, Transportation, and operational teams to support customer needs.
- Participate in meetings, training, coaching, and professional development activities.
- Apply feedback to improve individual and team performance.
- Ensure assigned files are processed within established service standards.
- Contribute to productivity, quality, compliance, and customer service KPIs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in customs brokerage, international trade, logistics, or a related field.
- Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and customs entry processes.
- Experience processing customs entries and reviewing shipment documentation.
- Experience with CargoWise or similar customs brokerage systems preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and relationship management abilities.
- Effective time management and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree and relevant industry certifications are preferred but not required.
