By creating high-quality equipment and payment systems to improve the rider experience, we empower equitable mobility and provide services to better connect communities. At Genfare, we develop the fare collection technologies that power public transportation systems across North America. As part of SPX Technologies, Genfare combines innovative technology with a collaborative culture focused on solving real-world transportation challenges.

About the role

As an Implementation Engineer, you'll work at the intersection of software, hardware, networking, and customer success. Every project is different, giving you the opportunity to work with cloud applications, mobile solutions, payment devices, databases, and networking technologies while helping transit agencies successfully deploy Genfare's products. You'll collaborate with customers, project managers, software engineers, product teams, and field technicians to configure systems, troubleshoot issues, conduct testing, and guide projects through successful implementation. No two days are exactly alike—one week you may be configuring a new cloud environment, the next you may be performing customer acceptance testing, supporting a mobile application rollout, or traveling on-site to launch a new fare collection system. If you're naturally curious, enjoy learning new technologies, and thrive on solving complex problems, you'll fit right in.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical implementations for public transit agencies from project kickoff through production go-live.
  • Configure Genfare cloud applications and customer environments to meet agency requirements.
  • Work with customers to understand operational workflows and recommend implementation solutions.
  • Configure system settings, user roles, fare structures, and business rules.
  • Support integrations involving mobile applications, payment devices, validators, fareboxes, ticket vending machines, and other field equipment.

  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, networking, and connectivity issues.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and support customers through production deployment.
  • Document implementation activities, technical procedures, and customer configurations.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Product Management, QA, Support, Program Management, and Customer Success teams.
  • Travel to customer sites for installations, testing, training, and go-live support approximately 40%. Most travel consists of short multi-day trips coordinated around project schedules.
