About the role

The Immigration Specialist IV is responsible for processing immigration petitions for Avant candidates efficiently and effectively, while proactively troubleshooting any issues. This role ensures databases are accurately maintained, all immigration requirements are current for each applicant, and timelines are sustained through fluid communication with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and all Avant departments. The Specialist exercises discretion and independent judgment in interpreting and applying immigration laws, developing policies, and advising management on strategic immigration matters.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently with minimal supervision to process visa petitions in compliance with U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS).
  • Use independent judgment to ensure filings and HCPs comply with all applicable immigration laws and regulations.
  • Manage and oversee the preparation and filing of all immigration-related applications and petitions (e.g., H-1B, L-1, PERM, I-140, I-485).
  • Coordinate with employees and external legal counsel to gather necessary documentation and information for filings.
  • Interpret and apply immigration law, providing expert guidance to employees on immigration-related issues and strategies.
  • Develop and implement immigration policies and procedures to support the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employees and management regarding immigration matters.
  • Consult with government agencies and external legal counsel as necessary.
  • Remain current with changes in immigration laws and policies through continuous education and update company procedures accordingly.
  • Review and evaluate information included on all petitions for applicable statuses before submission.
  • Resolve issues such as documentation needs, immigration status requests, and procedural concerns.
  • Communicate with other departments and HCPs regarding candidate processing, timelines, and updates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree, Paralegal qualification, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in immigration processing.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential documentation.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification (ability to obtain and maintain).

Schedule

This is a full-time position with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Additional time outside of these hours may be required to complete essential functions.

Work Environment

  • Operates in a professional office environment with routine use of standard office equipment.
  • Stationary desk work for extended periods; regular communication required.
  • Occasional lifting of office supplies up to 20 lbs.
  • Vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Confidential Data Responsibilities

Has access to and requires daily use of confidential records. Required by federal law to maintain strict confidentiality of employee information and ensure its security. A Proprietary Information and Non-Conflict Agreement is required.
