Immigration Specialist
About the role
The Immigration Specialist supports the United States, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda & Cayman Islands. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting new hires and current employees, inbound and outbound international employee transfers, and international employee business travel.
- Coordinating immigration business processes with outside immigration counsel for visa applications, paperwork, and related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the talent acquisition team, onboarding team, and new hires through the onboarding process.
- Assist F-1 students with completing Form I-983 to maintain CPT/OPT work authorization status.
- Manage right-to-work compliance by monitoring work authorization expiration dates, researching employee job changes for compliance, and performing periodic audits.
- In partnership with outside immigration counsel, support immigration casework, including but not limited to:
- United States: B-1/B-2, H-1B, F1, J-1, L-1A/B, TN, E-3, PERM, I-140 filing, I-485/AOS.
- Canada: ICT, C-20, PNP, GTS-LMBP.
- Mexico: TRV, TN.
- Bermuda & Cayman Islands work permits.
- Prepare and research data for business unit staffing plans of foreign national workforce, including monthly immigration headcount report.
- Communicate immigration requirements, government procedures, policy/process documentation, and case processing times to audiences like HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, employees and managers.
- Afford other ad hoc immigration issues, as necessary, such as collecting business approvals, drafting travel support letters, and providing experience letters to former employees applying for green cards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Organizational Communication, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 1-3 years of business immigration work experience required, with a preference for IT or Financial Services industry.
- Experience with work visa for other countries, including but not limited to Bermuda, Cayman, Canada, and Mexico preferred.
- Meet assigned deadlines and communicate case progress/status/issues to supervisor.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters and navigate confidentiality with transparency, address complex situations and communicate impact effectively, work effectively and collaboratively across functions.
- Strong critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills as well as conflict resolution skills, including the ability to negotiate and influence others.
Qualifications
- Must have experience in managing full life cycle of United States H-1B, L-1A/L-1B, B-1/B-2, Permanent Resident/Green Card filings, and extension processes.
Skills

- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Actual base salary will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, prior experience, education, demonstrated performance, and geographic location. Illinois: The expected base salary for the position is between $60,000 USD to $65,000 USD. In addition, employees in this role may be eligible for consideration on an annual basis for a discretionary bonus and/or equity awards, such as restricted stock units or stock options, based upon individual and business performance at the company’s discretion.
