Saul Ewing is seeking a talented project assistant to support its immigration practice group. The Project Assistant is a member of a practice support team and provides administrative support to practice group team members.
Responsibilities
- Maintain process checklists and questionnaires
- Verify that all documents saved on external drive(s) are added to iManage for active cases
- File simple and complex inquiries with government and USCIS as needed (e.g., processing times, change of address, rescheduling appointments, fixing major USCIS errors) via phone calls with high-level officers or online inquiries
- Contact USCIS for clients to obtain ADIT stamps, emergency travel documents, or emergency expedite requests on pending applications
- Add reminders to LLX from inquiries of government agencies or USCIS
- Submit Ombudsman inquiries for the entire department and add reminders to LLX on submitted Ombudsman requests
- Send documents via secure mail to clients
- Track all cases filed with UPS/FEDEX, ensure delivery, and email confirmation pages to attorneys/paralegals (paralegal to forward to client)
- Catalog files in storage for the immigration department
- Assist with projects as needed
- Maintain public access files for H1B cases
- Assist paralegals with the completion of forms and casework
- Work on assigned cases directly with the assigned attorney (billing time as needed)
- Review filings printed from other offices (DC and Chicago) for quality and provide to OFS for final scan and attorney review
- Update LLX case summary or enter case notes on active cases
- Cover for practice assistants during absences and handle overflow work
- Translate short documents from Spanish to English
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year working within an administrative immigration position
- Familiarity with legal documents and immigration terminology
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (speaking/writing) required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with LawLogix (LLX) program a plus

Pay
The anticipated pay range for this role is $50,000 - $60,000 annually, based on relevant skills, experience, education, external market data, internal equity, and other job-related factors.
