Immediate Need: Lower School Science Teacher

About the Role

Bancroft School seeks a full-time Lower School Science teacher to join our collaborative and dynamic team of educators starting in August of 2026. The Lower School Science Teacher is responsible for delivering classroom instruction to students in Grades PreK-5. This role requires designing engaging, student-centered lessons that align with Bancroft School’s curriculum and educational philosophy. Experience with the NGSS Science Standards is preferred. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, embraces innovation, and supports student choice in learning.

Responsibilities

  • Design and teach hands-on, inquiry-based science lessons aligned with curriculum and school philosophy
  • Foster curiosity and critical thinking through STEM activities and interdisciplinary connections
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the developmental and academic needs of all learners
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and inform instruction
  • Create a safe, inclusive classroom culture that promotes engagement and scientific exploration
  • Communicate regularly with families to support student learning and growth
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and support staff on curriculum integration and student support
  • Participate in school-wide events, interdisciplinary projects, and experiential learning opportunities
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to a collaborative faculty culture

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or science-related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 3–5 years of teaching experience in Lower School or elementary settings preferred
  • Knowledge of child development and best practices in science instruction
  • Strong differentiation skills and commitment to inclusive education
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in integrating technology into science teaching

Pay

Bancroft School offers a competitive salary range for this position of $42,000 to $68,000, determined by the scope of responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational considerations. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, including education, experience, skills, expertise, and internal equity.
